Shannon was 6 years old when her interest in golf developed. The family home was only a few metres from the resort driving range and Shannon hit her first balls with adult clubs. The Aubert's then settled down in Wengen, Switzerland where Shannon started playing golf at her new home club in Interlaken.

Her mother, Monica Aubert, has been at Shannon's side from the beginning and is acutely aware of Shannon's playing technique. Being a professional ice skating coach for many years herself provides her with a critical eye but more importantly, she plays the role of supporter and mother.
